Lighting firm Unios shines bright with Telstra WA Business of the Year award
A northern suburbs commercial lighting business that is exporting its innovative designs to New Zealand and South East Asia has been crowned Telstra WA Business of the Year.
Wangara-based Unios uses a digital platform to design and manufacture architectural lighting that features in multi-residential buildings, airline terminals and commercial developments.
The business, founded by Paley Ho, also took out the Medium and Making Waves Award.
“Our business stems from the desire to disrupt an industry by making every step of the journey simpler while also making the most of technology advances,” Mr Ho said.
Jo and Ronald Colijn-Dew’s Mundaring community cafe, Cafe Mojo, won the Emerging and Energised Award while Work Metrics, which builds software tools and apps to help businesses engage and manage their employees and contractors, was named winner of the Small and Succeeding Award.
Rural indigenous art and culture hub Warmun Art Centre won the Social Change Maker Award
Telstra Group executive, consumer and small business Michael Ackland, said the winners were shining examples of businesses doing great things in new and effective ways for their customers.
“They have inspired us all with their resilience, courage and incredible commitment,” Mr Ackland said.
The WA winners will join other winners from around Australia at the national awards in Melbourne in November 2019.
