House That! The Menora home of one of Perth's most beloved entertainers, the late Max Kay, listed for sale

The recently-listed home of the late Max Kay is as charming, generous and versatile as was the beloved showman. The larger-than-life entertainer, who died in 2019, left behind a spacious two-storey family home set on a massive 989sqm block in Menora, which has been listed by his son Gary. Much like the Civic Theatre restaurant he ran in Inglewood and Perth for 25 years, the four-bedroom house has an old-school touch. This includes a grand foyer, a sweeping staircase, a formal billiards room, a conservatory and a pool house. A grand piano currently takes centre stage in the living room — a reminder of his days as one of Perth’s greatest showmen. Scottish-born, kilt-wearing Kay made his name writing, producing and performing his own shows with a cast of dancers, singers and actors at his theatre restaurant. Later he focused on charity work, became a Perth City councillor and won accolades such as Citizen of the Year in 2001 and Member of the Order of Australia in 2003 for his services to the arts. But it was his big family including late wife Norma - who he adored the most, and the three-level Menora home was spacious enough for the many Kay family get-togethers, including children and grandchildren. The home is being sold via property agent Andrew Gill, who is seeking offers.
