A huge great white shark has been spotted swimming close to shore in Albany’s Princess Royal Harbour.

The 5m white shark was reported about 10.27am on Friday, 5m offshore from the famous Brig Amity replica in the harbour.

The alert was made by Surf Life Saving WA via its Sharksmart app.

The City of Albany also issued a statement on its Facebook page asking people to exercise caution around the area.

Princess Royal Harbour is popular with swimmers in the area the shark was spotted.
