The Kings have booked their ticket to the Broome Basketball Association men’s A-grade grand final after taking down the Gantheaume Pointers in a thrilling preliminary final on Wednesday November 27.

The Kings took the lead early on in the first quarter as the two dominant teams clashed under the lights of the Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre basketball courts.

But the Pointers kept pace with the Kings to be just six points behind at the first break, 15-9.

The second term was littered with fouls but the Kings once again pulled through to prove themselves the dominant force on the court, racking up 16 points while the Pointers managed to score just four, 31-13.

The third quarter saw the Pointers claw back some ground thanks to a three-pointer from Wayne Edgar but the Kings also continued to pile on the points to end the third term with a commanding lead, 45-21.

Three back-to-back scores entering the final quarter saw the Kings push ahead with a nearly 30-point lead as the Pointers struggled to control the ball.

Last-ditch efforts from Edgar helped the Pointers but the Kings had already more than doubled the Pointers score to take home a huge victory and secure their spot in the grand final, with the final score 64-33.

The Kings’ Zaiazlyn Hart was the top scorer with 12 points, while Edgar was the Pointers’ best scorer with seven points.

The Kings will face the Tigers in the grand final on Wednesday December 4 at the BRAC basketball courts.
