Broomehill and Kendenup set to do battle for automatic grand final spot in first week of GSCA finals

Broomehill will face Kendenup in the Great Southern Cricket Association second semifinal in Broomehill on Saturday as both sides vie for a grand final berth.

Kendenup will have to overcome an opposition that has only dropped one game across the 2022-23 season if they are to advance to the decider on March 18, while Broomehill will be looking to bounce back from their sole loss of the season last week to Tambellup.

The two sides have met three times across the season and Kendenup will have to reverse the outcome of each of those encounters if they are to upset the title fancies.

Broomehill were 58-run winners in round one against Kendenup and backed that up with a 20-run win in round five before making it a perfect 3-0 head-to-head record with a 40-run triumph in round 12.

Since that meeting in round 12 however, Kendenup have been in solid form, closing out their season with two dominant wins over Australs and Wanderers.

The loser of that first semi-final will face the winner of the first semi-final clash between Tambellup and Wanderers on Saturday.

Tambellup, playing at their home ground, will go into the match full of confidence having won their final three games of the season in convincing fashion.

The in-form Flynn Cristinelli will be buoyed by his recent display, whacking 58 against Broomehill in the final round win while Devon Cristinelli took four wickets.

Wanderers have not beaten Tambellup in any of their encounters this season, their only three wins coming against bottom side Australs in round one, round five and round 12.

The winner will back up and play Broomehill or Kendenup in Sunday’s preliminary final for the other spot in the decider.

All three finals this weekend start at noon.
