Cavaliers clinch a hat-trick of titles
Cavaliers secured their third straight men’s A-grade title after prevailing on the final night of the Katanning International Rules Basketball Association on Monday.
Senior grand finals in the KIRBA were held at Katanning Leisure and Function Centre with Cavaliers again proving too strong.
They beat Dreamteam 40-26 in the men’s A-grade decider with Zamri Rochmond named grand final most valuable player.
In the women’s A-grade grand final, Wildcats were crowned champions after defeating Lions 45-29 at the final buzzer with Wildcat Mikaila Kowald winning MVP honours.
Panthers won the women’s B-grade grand final in a hard-fought affair, downing Lions 34-25, with Creedance Culshaw named MVP for her efforts in the winning side.
The 2019-20 season awards were also announced at the grand finals with Mikaila Kowald named women’s A-grade fairest and best ahead of her sister, Sheridan Kowald, from Tigers.
Tyrone Roe, from Dreamteam, was the men’s A-grade best and fairest and Cavaliers’ Reece Nicholson runner-up.
Panthers’ Kaitlyn Eades was named women’s B-grade fairest and best player from runner-up Belinda Evans, from Power Puffs.
The best junior player was Sedeena Woods, from Lions, and Andrew Gammon was named umpire of the year.
