Electoral boundary redistribution sees Roe electorate gain four Central Wheatbelt Shires for 2025 election

The electorate of Roe has gained four new shires after the new electoral boundaries for the 2025 State election were announced on Friday. The Electoral Distribution Commissioners confirmed the Roe electorate acquired former Central Wheatbelt Shires Cuballing, Kondinin, Kulin and Wickepin. The population of the electorate is now 29,250 covering 120,414sqkm, up from its previous 26,962 people and 105,000sqkm from the 105 election. The final report published by commissioners stated the adjusted district’s variation from the average district enrolment decreased by over three per cent. “This boundary modification has also had the effect of significantly reducing the district of Roe’s VFADE without diluting the overarching agricultural character of the district,” the report stated. Roe MLA Peter Rundle said that the boundary extension poses “challenging” logistics. “As the current and hopefully future member for Roe, I will work as hard as I can to cover the most territory I can to do the best job possible,” Mr Rundle said. “The extra 15,000sqkm adds more local governments, communities and schools to reach as well.” The boundary of the Albany electorate will also extend slightly further north into the shires of Cranbrook and Gnowangerup to include the entire Stirling Range National Park. The electorate of Roe did not lose any shires with all Upper Great Southern local government areas remaining in the district.
