Help fight crime with online tool

Katanning police have launched an online tool to help fight crime with the help of residents.

Ewatch is a website where locals would be able to connect to their local police via an email-based system, to track down crime and be proactive in keeping the community safer.

This free online service officially started in Katanning last week and is supported by Katanning police, Katanning Neighbour-hood Watch and the Shire of Katanning.

Katanning residents will need to fill in an online form available from the ewatch website to join and become a member.

Once done, they will automatically receive free monthly articles from police, Neighbourhood Watch and the Shire on community safety issues.

Katanning Shire chief executive Julian Murphy said ewatch was an opportunity for the Shire to work more closely with Katanning police and the local Neighbourhood Watch group.

“I would encourage everyone to sign up for ewatch to receive the monthly email newsletter which has information on trends, initiatives, emerging issues and community events,” he said.

“It’s a good way for local people to stay informed and get involved with what’s happening in the Katanning community.”
