IN PICTURES: Premiers Katanning Wanderers celebrate 2023 awards night in style to mark centenary year

More than 150 players, coaches, volunteers and members of the Katanning Wanderers Football Club celebrated a successful year on Saturday at the Katanning Leisure and Function Centre’s premier room. After claiming the premierships in league and fourths, victorious players proudly displayed their premiership medallions, draping them around their necks at the club’s night of nights. Former Hawthorn player Kade Stewart took out the coveted Ken Robertson pin and Walter Quartermaine Memorial Shield as the league’s fairest and best player. He polled 103 votes, seven more than George Warren medallist and captain James Laurino, while ruckman Mitchell Banks rounded out the top three with 57 votes. This season also marked the Wanderers’ centenary year with speakers touching on the club’s proud history throughout the evening. Reece Eades was awarded the fairest and best trophy for the reserves, Jack Kennedy was named colts fairest and best, while Adam Edwards claimed fairest and best in the fourths. The night was led by club vice-president Grahame Green, who often had the crowd in raptures and attendees were treated to a sumptuous three-course meal.
