KNA 2024: Allstars 1 edge out Kojonup 1 to claim A1 minor premiership as teams brace for finals action
Allstars 1 edged out Kojonup 1 on Saturday to clinch the Katanning Netball Association A1 minor premiership as the regular season ended and teams brace for finals action.
After the two sides secured strong wins in the final round of the season, Allstars claimed the minor premiership by less than a per cent and will do battle with Kojonup this weekend in the qualifying final for a spot in the decider.
Some teams knew it was their last match of the season, entering the court and giving it their all, but making sure to enjoy the game with smiles and laughter.
In A1, Olympians 1 turned up the heat against Kojonup 2, racing to a 66-32 win to stay in finals and end their opponents’ season.
Allstars 1 kept their pace up once again to stay on top. They smashed out another win against Cardinals Force with a huge 70-34 result.
This was Cardinals Force’s last game of 2024.
Kojonup 1 had a nice contested game with Te Taitonga 1, and took the win 62-36.
In A2, Allstars 2 took on Cardinals Fever, with a strong game each way.
Allstars’ goals were on point, letting them take the win with 64-35.
Allstars 2 will continue in the finals, and Cardinals Fever have finished up.
Broomehill once again dominated against Te Taitonga 2 and flew to a comprehensive 61-39 victory.
Both teams are in finals on Saturday.
Dumbleyung had a healthy win against Olympians 2, 51-22, with the latter playing their last game of the season.
Allstars 3 snared their first win of the season in A3.
The team had been close many times, but they were determined to finish up with a win.
Against Cardinals Phoenix, Allstars finished up with a strong 50-35 result.
Cardinals are in finals, and Allstars’ season is over.
Kojonup 4 played a close game against Te Taitonga 3.
Kojonup 4 pushed a little harder and came out with the win, scraping through 42-39, and both teams move into finals.
The semifinals will be held at the Katanning Leisure Centre on Saturday afternoon, with the first senior games beginning at 1.30pm.
After a very long and strong competition this year, the Go players had their last round of the season.
Many of these players are all ready to jump up a division next year, and the Set kids are ready to step up into the Go competition.
Juniors finished up their regular season, with the top four teams confirmed and ready for the semifinals this Saturday.
This week NAB Lightening and Kojonup Sapphires will square off in a qualifying final, while Nutrien Firebirds and QFH Vixens will contest the elimination final on Saturday morning.
