Reigning premiers Tambellup roll Australs to secure first victory of Great Southern Cricket Association season

Reigning premiers Tambellup returned to form on Saturday with a strong bowling and batting display guiding them to their first win of the Great Southern Cricket Association season. Tambellup lost their first two matches but were a class above in the round four clash with Australs at the Top Oval in Katanning. Jedd Herbert produced a superb all-round display with three wickets and an unbeaten half-century. Australs batted first and were bowled out for 95 before Tambellup passed the total with ease, winning by 10 wickets. Phillip Pink and David Potter put on a 15-run opening stand for Australs before Pink was bowled by Matt Hankinson. Two balls later, Hankinson repeated the dose to dismiss James Douglas. Potter was the next to go after making 10 before Kris Norris and Vaughn Baker steadied the ship with a 25-run partnership. However both fell in quick succession as Norris was caught for 18 and then Baker was dismissed for 17 to leave Australs at 5-56. Toby Blechynden provided some late resistance with 23 but Australs lost their final five wickets for 14 runs to be bowled out for 95 in the 30th over. Hankinson produced a terrific spell of bowling claiming 4-17 off seven overs including four maidens while Herbert snared 3-8 off three overs and Nathan Willmott took 2-19. Tambellup chased down the total with ease as Herbert and Flynn Cristinelli scored at four an over to finish on 0-97 off 23.2 overs. Herbert finished unbeaten on 53 from 72 balls including five boundaries, while Cristinelli added 37no to help guide their side to their first win of the season.
