All Stars fall as Olympians star

JOE CASSIDYGreat Southern Herald

The Olympians emerged victorious in Saturday’s division one semifinal against the All Stars in a blistering 13-point win.

The All Stars certainly did not hand the Olympians the win, with a tight competition throughout the game and a strong defence from both sides.

The win for the division 1 side means they get the coming weekend off as the remaining teams battle it out for a chance to compete in the grand final.

In the division 2 competition, the Olympians’ strong defence against Dumbleyung and agile moves helped to secure them a strong 45-27 point win.

Dumbleyung have struggled during the season, being down on numbers due to injuries, but they have always maintained a strong presence.

Strong players, the likes of Joe Doney, Pip Gooding and Ronnie Joy, have ensured their season has not been marred by setbacks.

A strong, developing side with one player earning a spot on the regional team, the Olympians’ second division will surely see a few players develop into the top level.

While all players put forward a strong effort, Georgie Altus and Bianca Wolfe did the team especially proud.
