A local farmer and a bugle player are among a select few to be honoured for their years of contribution to the Anzac Day memorial services in Katanning.

Terry Noonan, David Phillips and Margaret Taylor all received high praise from the Katanning RSL sub branch at an awards night on Friday.

RSL sub branch president Chrissie Day said the service would not be possible without their contribution over the years and thanked them for their tireless efforts.

Mr Noonan received his award for organising and supplying music for the Anzac Day services at the Town Hall over many years.

“I really enjoyed growing up listening to and playing music, and I don’t think it would hurt the kids of today to be exposed to a bit more music in their schools,” he said.

Mr Phillips, who has played The Last Post at countless services but was out of action due to illness this year, said he would endeavour to carry on the tradition.

Wesleyan Methodist Choir conductor Ms Taylor accepted the award on behalf of her group, saying she felt lucky to be part of a very special group of people.

Poptronics owner Ron Wake was also recognised for his generosity in loaning his PA system and audio equipment.
