Awards recognise Clontarf students’ achievements
The Katanning Clontarf Academy held its end of year awards at the Sprig Bar last Wednesday night.
The academy exists to improve the education, discipline, life skills, self-esteem and employment prospects of young Aboriginal men and by doing so equip them to participate meaningfully in society.
Eleven awards were handed out on the night and multiple- award winners included Marley Bolton, Cooper Ward, Kyle Ward, Kelvin Woods, Errol Riley, Teroy Regan and Nui Andrews.
Students were encouraged to make a short speech when accepting their awards to promote public speaking.
Most of the students said they’d like to thank their mums for getting them up in the morning, as well as thanking their teachers and families.
Katanning Senior High School started running the Clontarf Academy in 2011 and this year had 23 students complete the program.
