Katanning product Kye Blight stormed through the field to record a fifth place finish at Saturday’s Magic Man 34 race Late Models at Perth Motorplex.

Although they recorded a great finish, the night started off with some drama for the team.

“We had a power steer issue in our heat race,” Blight said.

“It wasn’t too much of a problem early on and we got out in clean air and I could do some reasonably smooth laps, but as I got to traffic and they dictated my line a little bit I just couldn’t hang on and I was pretty disappointed to get passed on the last lap.”

As a result of a poor qualifying, car 41 started towards the back for the feature race.

“We had a fantastic race car in the heat but I made a bad call on tyre compound for that final and it took 20 laps to get rolling,” Blight said.

“But man, I had some fun out there on the top.”

Blight will be back in action November 19 at Bunbury Speedway for the Pro Dirt Series.
