Tourists driving to Albany for Anzac centenary commemorations this year will be in for a treat, with the Kojonup community planning an eye-catching display.

A sea of poppies will flank Albany Highway and all sections of the community are becoming involved.

Businesses along Albany Highway are planting poppy seeds now, which, if all goes to plan, will bloom between October and November.

Kojonup District High School and St Bernard's Primary School will have students learning songs of the era and a banner will be erected along the main street to highlight the event.

Committee member Cathy Wright said the whole town was involved in some way to commemorate the special occasion.

"We'll have traffic flowing through here, so we are very keen to get them to slow down and spend time in Kojonup - it will be great for tourism," she said. "It's going to be great, everyone is getting behind the festivities."

Seeds can be picked up for free at the Kojonup Community Resource Centre with planting instructions.

Organisers plan to repeat the poppy trail over the four-year centenary event.
