Carnival draws best junior teams

The Great Southern Netball Region held its annual junior carnival at Katanning Leisure Centre on Sunday, with teams competing from Boddington, Narrogin, Katanning, Kojonup Ongerup, Esperance, Albany and Denmark.

Thirty teams from eight associations placed into six age groups displayed a high level of netball, with all associations placing their very best athletes on the court.

The Katanning Netball Association ran the tournament well and was able to field four teams within the 12s, 13s, 15s and 17s divisions.

The Albany Netball Association proved to be the association to beat, winning the 11s and 12s divisions in a round-robin format and making the finals in the 13s, 14s, 15s and 17s divisions.

Denmark displayed some excellent skills and great teamwork to stop Albany’s clean sweep of the carnival, by winning the finals in the 14s and 17s divisions.
