Friendly football in Katanning

Great Southern Herald

The conditions were ideal for a casual Monday afternoon of football in Katanning.

Clontarf Katanning Maalis, the Black Swans, hosted the Northam Academy Kulbardies Magpies for a friendly match at Quartermaine Oval.

Northam Clontarf Academy stopped by Katanning on their way to a camping trip in the Porongorups, to try their luck against the boys.

As shown in previous matches, the Black Swans were just too good.

Showing some strong offensive work and great teamwork, they beat the Magpies in a convincing 11.7(73) to 1.1 7 win.

The boys put in solid effort, during a game of uneven match-ups.

There was at times some quality defensive work from Magpies but they ultimately fell short.

The defence may have been lacking from the Magpies but they made up for it with enthusiasm as some strong younger players demonstrated real potential.

All the boys played well on the day, spurred on by the excitement of AFL grand final week but a few lads were stand-outs.
