The Nyabing community has finally received the boost it needs to help transform the Nyabing Inn into a supportive, social and family-friendly community hub.

After buying the inn last year, the Nyabing Progress Association set about transforming the premises to include comfortable and efficient meeting and business areas, accommodation, a bar and possible cafe.

The association recently received $150,000 through Royalties for Regions allocations via the Regional Grants Scheme and association secretary Christie Smith said it was the help they needed to really get the ball rolling.

"We had a think tank a few years ago when we first started share cropping to raise funds and around the same time all our winter sport dissolved, so this social community hub was what the community wanted," she said.

"This funding will help us start to revamp the accommodation and it is a relief - it just means we can start the project closer than we anticipated."

The plan consists of four to six self-contained accommodation units attached to the inn, to help provide for and retain visitors passing through.

"We had a busy bee recently and were able to concrete a fencing alfresco area, which has been great, and concrete the entire floor behind the bar - things are getting going," Ms Smith said.

Nyabing's Jess Brown said the hub would help create employment and use the community's services, but the main goal was to maintain social interaction, because living in regional WA could be isolating.

"The community has been working so hard, and it really reinvigorates the spirits because it has been a long stretch," she said.
