The Tambellup Community Resource Centre backyard redevelopment project opened this month to the praise of staff and community members.

The project transformed the centre’s backyard into an entertaining and function area, and improved storage at the centre with the renovated shed.

The opening was attended by Broomehill-Tambellup Shire and Council members as well as Member for O’Connor Rick Wilson. Centre manager Shane Malland said the project had taken 18 months to complete and was funded by Lotterywest and the Shire of Broomehill-Tambellup.

“It’s very important for me to highlight that the Shire of Broomehill-Tambellup have supported us well over and above their financial contribution,” he said.

“They have completed our site works and provided a great deal of additional support — this support consists of bringing clean fill to form the foundation of the build, Shire works have also trenched for underground water and power supplies and supply of gravel to all remaining earth at project completion.”

As part of the redevelopment, the Tambellup community got their green thumbs dirty by helping plant a Garden of Friendship, which Mr Malland said had crowned the finished project beautifully.

“We couldn’t have finished this project without the community, many hands make light work,” he said.
