Jerramungup fast charger further opens up south coast to EV adventurers as WA network passes halfway point

Synergy and the State Government have celebrated reaching the halfway point in the development of WA’s EV Network following the opening of a fast-charging site in Jerramungup. The 150kw charger was the 25th to be installed of 49 planned locations stretching 7000km from Kununurra to Esperance and inland to Kalgoorlie and Eucla. It enables drivers to top up their vehicles in about 20 minutes while travelling along the scenic south coast. Energy Minister Reece Whitby said the State Government was proud of its investment to create “one of the longest electric vehicle charging networks in the world”. “The WA EV Network is providing the backbone of EV charging infrastructure which is critical for driving the continued update of EVs across WA,” he said. “These charging locations are now in 25 locations, making it easier for EV drivers to explore our wonderful state while reducing their travel time and range anxiety.” The number of chargers on the network has been growing since the first went live in Geraldton in April last year. Since then more than 5500 charging sessions have been held at the ever-expanding list of charger sites. The network is scheduled for completion by the middle of this year.
