Memories and milestone for Katanning Croquet Club

The Katanning Croquet Club is celebrating a big milestone this year as the club turns 100 years old.

Members got together last week to promote the club’s future and award a life membership to 92-year-old retiring treasurer Ernest Chapman.

Mr Chapman received the award for his dedication to the club as a player and treasurer, who not only played well but respected those he played against.

Members have been presented with commemorative shirts for the anniversary.

Secretary Lynn Dilley said new members were always welcome, regardless of their age.

“Anyone can come and play. There is no limit on how young or old you are if you want to join in,” she said.

“We also really support disabled people and want to give them a go and help them learn.

“The whole club pitches in the keep the grounds beautiful and make things happen.”

The Narrogin Croquet Club will be visiting on November 17 for a competitive match.

The Katanning Croquet Club meet on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1pm.

Formal celebrations are planned for later this year to mark the club’s anniversary.
