Volunteers and Shire staff have banded together this month in Gnowangerup to lay the turf and transform the community swimming pool surrounds.

On a sunny winter day, more than 850 sqm of turf was laid and all the hard work was completed before lunch time.

Shire of Gnowangerup manager of community services Anna Boschman said there were a number of tasks still to finish but the official opening date had been locked in.

“Although, the site is still a construction site, work is progressing and the Shire is proud to announce that the official opening of the new facility has been scheduled for Saturday, November 5, 2016,” she said.

Ms Boschman thanked all those who helped lay the turf last week.

“The landscaping at the pool is in its final stages with trees and plants planted, kerbing and planter boxes installed and garden beds prepared,” she said.

“The hardworking team at BGL Solutions have worked tirelessly to create a peaceful and inviting space that local residents will be able to enjoy all through the swimming season.

“More details about the opening will follow. However, community groups and individuals who would like to be involved are encouraged to contact the Shire on 9827 1007.”
