Tambellup have consolidated their place at the top of the women’s Central Great Southern Hockey Association competition with another convincing at the weekend, this time against Woodanilling.

Tambellup kept Woodanilling to a clean sheet while pouring on four goals of their own in a dominant display.

In a best-on-ground performance, Caroline Sprigg slotted three goals while Tara Simpson scored Tambellup’s other.

The win sees Tambellup take an unassailable eight-point lead on top of the table, needing only a draw in one of their four remaining matches to cement themselves as minor premiers.

Broomehill claimed their first win of the season, defeating third-placed Kojonup Owls 4-2.

Shanika Taylor scored three goals for Broomehill and picked up the votes for best on ground while Yai Heron also slotted one. Sarah Rankin and Jacinta Zadow were the Owls’ goal scorers.

In the final match of the round, Katanning defeated Kojonup Chicks 1-0 to move into third place on the ladder behind the Chicks, relegating the Owls to fourth.

The Chicks and Katanning are locked on 13 points each with only goal difference separating the two teams and four rounds left to play before finals.

Katanning’s Donna Woithe was the game’s lone goal scorer but was pipped by Chicks player Shaydn Gardner for the best-on-ground votes.

In the men’s competition, Woodanilling scored another big win, 8-0 victors over Tambellup 2. The huge goal haul takes Woody’s goal difference up to a whopping +65; 66 for and only conceded.

Tambellup 1 remains in touch with ladder leaders Woodanilling, just one game behind, after a 3-1 win over Katanning, while Broomehill secured a convincing victory over Kojonup 2, 3-0.
