Tambellup topples Kojonup 2 with 16-goal haul

Round 2 of the Central Great Southern Hockey Association in Katanning at the weekend saw Tambellup 1 netting a huge 16-goal haul against Kojonup 2 in the men’s division.

Matt Groves netted five while Leon Squib and Neil Letter hit three and four goals respectively against a lowly Kojonup 2, who were held scoreless for the match.

The Wise brothers, Kurt and Rick, each scored in Woodanilling’s 3-0 win over Kojonup 1, while Tambellup 2 proved too strong for Katanning, winning 2-0.

In the women’s division, the Kojonup Owls took on Woodanilling with Danielle Bartrum, Katie O’Halloran and Jane Kowald all contributing to the Owl’s five goals.

Despite strong efforts from Kira Flynn and Nicole Creed, Woodanilling could only find the back of the net once, losing 5-1.

Tambellup were dominant against the Kojonup Chicks, slotting six goals to one, with Rachael Webster scoring two.

In the final match Katanning and Broomehill went head-to-head in a tight battle that saw Katanning finish on top, scoring five goals to Broomehill’s three.
