A South West town’s biggest showcase of petrol and diesel is making its seventh annual return this weekend.

The Yarloop charity car cruise is rolling into town on Sunday, March 2, from 11am to 2pm, with organisers hoping the weather stays sunny so the public can enjoy an afternoon of fun.

Each year the cruise raises money for a local group or organisation. Last year it donated more than $2000 to the Waroona Volunteer Fire Brigade.

This year, the organisers have decided to keep the funding close to the show’s heart, with the funds going to the Yarloop bowling club.

The club will be open on the day providing a sausage sizzle as the classic cars roll into town.

Event organiser Sue Manuel said the team was hoping to see more than 150 cars lining the streets of Yarloop.

“Since we’re in our seventh year, I think people are starting to really get around it and are looking forward to it every year,” she said.

An ice-cream van will be there and dogs are welcome to join in the classic car fun, Mrs Manuel said.

The event will have 12 trophies up for grabs, according to fellow organiser Steve Eatwell, who said there would be prizes for the best presented cars, classic cars, hot rods and vintage vehicles presented to the winners from 1pm.
