The exhibition hall for the 102nd Harvey Show is set to be a dazzling display of art, cakes and floral scenes with entries now open for the event.

The community is encouraged to put creativity to the test for this year’s exhibition hall over the two-day Harvey Show, taking place at the Harvey Recreation Ground on April 25 and 26.

This year, with opening night falling on Anzac Day, the hall will have a special display to honour the Anzacs alongside the usual displays.

Chief exhibition steward Jan Marinko said they would be honouring the troops in a number of ways at this year’s show, with a feature challenge planned where any medium of artwork honouring the poppy can be submitted.

“Anything people can come up with, it can be sewing, knitting, crocheting, patchwork, cards, papercraft, anything,” she said.

Beyond the Anzac display, the hall will be packed with its usual mix of creative crafts, with Ms Marinko saying she is most looking forward to seeing woodwork on display.

“I would love to see more woodwork, that would be fantastic,” she said.

“Also, the I’m really excited about the art section this year because we’ve been able to get some more sponsorship so we’re able to offer much more prize money, so we’re hoping that will encourage people to enter.”

Entries are open now and people can learn more about what to submit at the show’s website or by picking up one of the show books which have started making their way around town.

Ms Marinko said they were hoping to see more entries than previous years, making the decisions even more difficult for this year’s judges.
