Kununurra mourns football legend Ingrid Harvey with memorial service
A memorial to honour community stalwart and East Kimberley Football League legend Ingrid Harvey will take place on Friday November 22.
The 73-year-old grandmother of four died on October 20 after suffering a sudden heart attack.
Ms Harvey was a “driving force”, not only for the Ord River Magpies Football Club, but for East Kimberley football in general, being a lifetime club member, secretary for 25 years, and vice-president for the past five.
Ord River Magpies have put out a call on Facebook for photographs of Ms Harvey to be displayed at her funeral on Friday.
“As we prepare to honour the life of Ingrid Harvey, a true club legend, we’d love to celebrate her memory with photos that capture the moments she shared with us all,” the Facebook post read.
“If you have any photos of Ingrid — whether they’re from her time spent at the club, other town events, or just capturing her wonderful spirit — please send them to our club’s email.
“Your contributions will help us remember and celebrate Ingrid’s incredible legacy with her family and friends at her funeral next Friday.”
An outpouring of love and support from the Kununurra community followed Ms Harvey’s death, with hundreds of community members taking to Facebook to express their love for the grassroots football legend.
Photographs can be sent to admin@ordrivermagpies.com.
