The Shire of Exmouth has revealed a new festival for the North West Cape next year focusing on culture, community and gastronomy.

The Ningaloo Sky Festival has been introduced as a two-yearly event, following the popularity of other events in the area including the Whaleshark Festival and the Ningaloo Eclipse event.

The State Government contributed $19,000 towards the festival through Tourism WA’s Regional Events Scheme, with the shire exploring options for additional funding.

Shire president Matt Niikkula said the event would be a boost for the region.

“We are incredibly excited to bring back a major event to Exmouth,” he said.

“The Ningaloo Sky Festival will showcase our region’s unique attractions and provide a boost to our local economy.

“We encourage everyone to mark their calendars and join us for this fantastic celebration.”

The three-day festival is set to host a variety of events and experiences, including live music, a drone show and a long-table dinner at a secret location.

According to the shire, the festival aims to capture the region’s natural beauty, and bring locals and visitors together.

Mr Niikkula said the success of other festivals in the area inspired a new venture.

“The Whaleshark Festival has always been a highlight on the local calendar, and with the commitment to create a new destination event celebrated every two years, we’re taking it to a whole new level,” he said.

“The event committee will have time and resources to plan and enable event visitors to immerse themselves in the festivities and revel in the welcoming community atmosphere and everything that Exmouth has to offer.”

The event is scheduled for June 2025 in Exmouth.
