IN PICTURES: 2024 Narrogin Senior High School graduates celebrate their Year 12 success and teacher support

The 2024 Narrogin Senior High School graduates were congratulated by their teachers and peers for a successful school year. The class gathered on campus where 10 standout students were presented awards alongside musical performances by graduates Jade Bray, Tamika Cross-Read, and Daisy Morris at the ceremony on October 17. In her ceremony speech, Valedictorian Sophie Parson spoke on the Year 12 whirlwind of emotions, studying, hardships, and successes. “Hours and hours of tests, assessments, homework, exams, and not to mention those dreaded potholes, otherwise known as Maths investigations — we finally made it,” Ms Parson said. “I can imagine that most of you are feeling how I am feeling right now, excited but nervous, happy but sad, relieved but slightly anxious about what’s to come on our next journey. “But for now, let’s hit cruise control, celebrate our achievements and reflect on our years we’ve spent together.” The graduate thanked her teachers for their constant support. “You were somehow always calm and chose not to quit, when, looking back, I don’t know how you didn’t,” Ms Parson said. “Each of you has been there for us all the way, helping us to reach our full potential.” Alan Lord, an alumnus of Narrogin Senior High School and the Narrogin Residential College class of 1972, offered advice on accepting and embracing change as the ceremony’s keynote speaker. Abby Dewing excelled in her Year and earned the Dux and Citizenship Award with her classmate Guillaume van der Riet receiving the Runner-Up Dux and Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork Award. VET student Lyllian Green achieved VET Dux and Imogen Annear collected the Runner-Up VET Dux certificate. Shire of Narrogin deputy president Grahman Broad presented the Ampol Best All-rounder Award to Claire Conlan and the Hotham Trust Award to Jacob Day. Aniela Turner-Reid was commended for her athleticism with the Sportsperson Award and Beau Readhead received the ADF Future Innovators Award. Narrogin Senior High School principal Sandii Stankovic handed Dekoda-Marie Turner this year’s Principal’s Award.
