Warriors have won the Upper Great Southern Hockey Association SportsPower men’s A-grade grand final, finishing 2-0 winners over Olympics.

Olympics got off to a superb start with an early penalty corner but quality defence from Warriors cleared the ball with Olympics attempting a field goal before great defence held out once more.

Warriors enjoyed some ball control but lacked an effective finish.

In the second quarter another field goal attempt from Olympics went wide of the goals while at the other end the Warriors had a shot which also went wide of the target.

The game was end-to-end hockey with Olympics earning a penalty corner but they couldn’t convert.

Warriors then had a penalty corner of their own and a shot attempt but they were both denied.

It was an outstanding quarter of hockey, with both teams having many chances and awesome defence denying the opportunities.

A Warriors penalty corner early in the third term was well-executed with Jack Robinson scoring to give his side the lead.

Olympics had another penalty corner but still weren’t able to find a goal.

However, Warriors’ Nick Corner put on some great hockey to score an awesome reverse-stick goal to give his side a 2-0 lead going into the final quarter.

Warriors had more control of the ball and had Olympics under a lot of pressure but they did not wilt and both teams had several chances, with both defensive brigades holding strong.

As time was running out Olympics won a penalty corner but they were not able to pinch a goal back.

The final siren sounded and Warriors were crowned 2022 premiers.

The most valuable player medal in the grand final was awarded to Corner for his outstanding four-quarter display.
