Warriors edge out All Blacks in thrilling UGSHA men’s A-grade preliminary final showdown

An exciting set of grand finals awaits in the Upper Great Southern Hockey Association after the preliminary finals were played last week.

In the SportsPower men’s A-grade, Warriors defeated All Blacks in a close encounter, with the deciding goal scored in the final stages of the contest as Warriors edged out their counterparts 4-3.

In the Edwards Isuzu men’s B-grade preliminary final, Dumbleyung defeated Warriors 7-0 with Dumbleyung taking control of the game after scoring early.

In the SportsPower women’s A-grade, Wagin hit the front early and controlled the game from the outset to finish 2-1 winners over All Blacks.

Warriors finished 1-0 winners over Woodanilling in the Edwards Isuzu women’s B-grade preliminary final but there were missed opportunities from both teams throughout the contest.

In the Triple M upper school competition, Vultures defeated Woodanilling 3-2 as Vultures enjoyed the majority of the play in the face of a determined Woodanilling outfit.

In the Triple M middle school division, the Lions jumped out to a handy 4-1 lead but Woodanilling fired back with two goals of their own.

They missed the chance to equalise on the siren with the Lions holding on for a thrilling 4-3 win.

On Thursday the middle and upper school grand finals start from 5.15pm.

The senior grand finals start from 1.30pm on Saturday with women’s B-grade and conclude with the men’s A-grade at 6pm.
