Williams claim victory across across two divisions with strong wins over Pingelly in NDNA

The pressure was high going into round six of the Narrogin and Districts Netball Association season, with all teams looking to secure their places on the ladder.

In a highly anticipated game at the Williams Sporting Complex, Williams hosted Pingelly in A1 and A3 with the home side getting on top in both fixtures.

Williams 1 recruited strongly this season but had been unable to defeat Pingelly 1 in their previous encounter during the first round of fixtures.

With Williams sitting in second on the ladder, Pingelly were looking to jump into the top three should they repeat their earlier performance in the season.

From the first whistle the Williams’ goal shooters Clare Hardie and Denver Henson were a strong force in the goal circle with the Pingelly defenders unable to stem the flow of goals that ensued from the tall and skilful attackers.

Pingelly put up a fight with their shooters Katherine Macnamara and Deb McBurney working hard in the circle to clear themselves of the Williams’ defenders.

However the tight defence from sibling duo Abbi and Tayla Battley helped Williams take a plethora of intercepts to wrest control of the ball and emerge with a 36-39 win.

Liz Fowler continues to be a standout for Williams with her precise ball placement.

In the A3 game, Williams 2 and Pingelly 3 battled out a nailbiting contest.

Pingelly continued to fight with outstanding pressure, however were unable to crawl back with Williams finishing 30-28 winners at the final whistle.

Ruby Adkins was awarded most valuable player as her ability to swap from attack to defence was effortless and helped her side to a well-deserved win.

The A1 competition remains tight in 2023. Wagin escaped with a close win over Cuballing 46-44 and Olympics Gold notched their first win, beating Wickepin 36-27.
