NRL signings: Jesse and Casey McLean sign contract extensions to stay with Penrith until 2028

Penrith’s assembly line of junior talent has produced two more long-term stars, with siblings Jesse and Casey McLean signing new deals that will keep the outside backs at the club until 2028.

The brothers will represent NSW in Thursday night’s under-19 State of Origin match, with Jesse named co-captain for the Blues.

Jesse, 20, has already played two NRL games for Penrith, including one against the Dragons earlier this year when he scored one of the tries of the season.

There are huge raps on Casey, who was named the Panthers’ player of the year for Harold Matthews last season, with the 18-year-old promoted to the NSW Cup side this year.

“On behalf of all at Panthers, I’d like to congratulate Jesse and Casey on re-signing with the club on long-term deals,” Panthers rugby league chief executive Matt Cameron said.

“Panthers prides itself on the built-from-within mantra and it’s always rewarding to see local juniors commit to the club.”

With Sunia Turuva off to the Tigers and Taylan May’s future up in the air, there’s an outside chance the brothers could play alongside each other in the NRL as early as 2025 when Casey is elevated to Penrith’s top-30 squad.

“Not only are the McLean brothers highly talented rugby league players, but they are also wonderful young men who live out the values of the Panthers,” Panthers general manager of football Shane Elford said.

“Jesse and Casey have both worked tirelessly to be in the position they are in and we look forward to their career progression at Panthers.”
