Princess Catherine has reportedly “turned a corner” in her cancer battle, buoying the hopes of royal watchers that she could return to public life sooner than thought.

Sources have told Vanity Fair that Kate — who has been undergoing preventative treatment and revealed her shock diagnosis publicly in March — had been feeling a lot better in recent weeks.

“It has been a great relief that she is tolerating the medication and is actually doing a lot better,” says a family friend. “It has, of course, been a very challenging and worrying time. Everyone has rallied around her—William, her parents, and her sister and brother.”

The good news comes amid reported sightings of the Princess out and about with her family in recent days.

Kate hasn’t attended a public engagement since December.

And, a so-called “well-placed source” also told the publication that the Princess was in no hurry to return to work.

“There is no timeline, and there is certainly no hurry. It will be when Catherine feels ready and when she gets the green light from her medical team. But she will 100 per cent be coming back to work, of that there is no question.”

Earlier this week Daily Beast quoted friends and insiders who revealed there is nothing in her royal duties diary for the rest of the year.

“Lots of people involved in planning need to know what all the principals are doing a long way in advance. I am told that Kate’s diary for this year is empty. There is nothing planned. She may not appear in public for the rest of the year,” an unnamed source told Daily Beast.

Last week a source told the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden that we may only see the Princess in autumn at the earliest, and only then if she has recovered fully.

It is understood Kate, William and their children George, Charlotte and Louis are spending the summer holidays at their country retreat Anmer Hall.
