It will soon be easier for everyone to navigate Harvey with a new accessible parking bay and ramp set for installation in the CBD.

The Harvey Shire Council voted to install an ACROD parking bay and accessible ramp adjacent to Harvey Pharmacy on Uduc Road.

The council previously tested on-street ACROD parking on Gibbs Street during a 12-month trial that started in October 2020. In response to positive feedback, the council is now looking to add additional ACROD parking bays throughout the shire.

These additional bays will improve accessibility for the elderly and those with mobility needs in being able to park closer to businesses in town.

The ramp, space and signage are set to cost $1500.

Cr Robyn Coleman questioned the proposed location and asked if the adjoining businesses had been consulted.

The council said they had not yet informed the adjoining pharmacy, though council documents state they would be informed following the successful vote.

The vote to install the ACROD bay passed 10-1 with only Cr Coleman voting against it.
