Former foreign minister Julie Bishop will join The West Live this morning to discuss Telethon 2020, her advocacy for ovarian cancer research and if she'd consider running for State Government.

Ms Bishop is a world away from the Canberra bubble but still making headlines, last spotted hanging off the pylon at Cottesloe Beach in a hot pink frock for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation’s Frocktober campaign, of which she is an ambassador.

After resigning from her 20-year political career, Ms Bishop is now Chancellor of the Australian National University, on international advisory board of powerful artificial intelligence firm Afiniti alongside former British PM David Cameron and also joined the Telethon Kids Institute as chairwoman in August 2019.

She's also expected to weigh in on the Federal and State Budget after this week commending Treasurer Josh Frydenberg for including the drug treatment Lynparz, a medication for the maintenance treatment of advanced ovarian cancer, to the PBS. It means the wonder drug will go from $140,000 to $41 a script.

Also on the show, Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA chief economist Aaron Morey will provide a comprehensive State Budget preview, laying out what has already been leaked and what could be expected.

As revealed on the front page of The West Australian today, ahead of delivering his fourth State Budget Treasurer Ben Wyatt has declared that WA dodged a COVID-19 recession and boasts a stronger economy than anywhere in the nation — and potentially the world.
