It all came down to WA.

And boy, did we deliver.

Western Australia was the cherry on top for Labor, likely to deliver a majority Albanese government into power.

And even the ABC’s chief election analyst Antony Green said WA was the stand-out. The State delivered an overall 10 per cent swing to Labor. And seats it never thought possible fell into its hands.

Everyone in the HQ room in Sydney’s inner west was a fan of the State out west.

Labor is king in WA.

“I could move to WA after this, I thought it was so right-wing. Not now,” one supporter said.

“The great west,” said another.

Hasluck, Swan, Pearce and Cowan were all for Labor. Tangney, Moore and Canning were last night in the balance.

Mark McGowan was thanked by the Labor faithful — his magic had rubbed off on Anthony Albanese and his Federal colleagues.

The normally conservative, resources-heavy State showed it was ready once again for a Federal Labor government.

Anthony Albanese’s decision to hold Labor’s launch in WA and campaign there heavily paid off. He was in WA in the last week of the campaign, speaking to voters.

Labor was confident but it didn’t dream it could have nine seats in Western Australia.

Never has that happened before. Labor is king in WA.
