One of the most famous families in football have kept their favourite Christmas tradition alive — but it’s not decorations, food or gifts in this household.

Fremantle superstar Andrew Brayshaw, his family members and friends once again completed their annual December 25 ‘100 hundreds’, which sees them run 100m 100 times every Christmas morning.

The ritual — which was passed down by his father, former North Melbourne player Mark — one year before the family’s eldest football talent Angus was drafted to Melbourne in 2013, has become lore among sporting fans in recent years, with many even incorporating it into their own festive traditions.

Youngest brother Hamish, who played one game for West Coast, posted an image of himself, Andrew and family and friends completing the yearly run to his Instagram on Wednesday morning.

“100x100s geez I was in the hurt locker. Merry Christmas,” he wrote on Instagram.

Brayshaw previously told The West the ritual was born from wanting to get the edge over other athletes but had grown into an activity everyone could get involved in.

“The thought process at the time was — to get the jump on the competition, let’s do the hardest session possible on the day when nobody else is doing anything,” he said.

“So our Christmas Day 100 hundreds tradition began.

“What began as a mental and physical test has grown into more of a participation event to kick-start the festivities of Christmas.”

Fellow Docker Nathan O’Driscoll also posted to social media that he had completed his own 100x100s at home in Northam on Wednesday, before his sister and AFLW star Emma shared a family picture celebrating Christmas.

Skipper Alex Pearce shared with his 22,000 Instagram followers that he was in Melbourne for the festive season, while vice-captain Caleb Serong posted with fiance Chloe Furnari.

West Coast star Tim Kelly was among the handful of Eagles to share snaps of their Christmas activities, posing up with partner Caitlin Miller, his children and former Eagle Jamaine Jones.
