England seamer Gus Atkinson will be rested for this month's One-Day International series against Australia, with Olly Stone coming in as his replacement.

England are set to host Australia for three Twenty20s, followed by a five-match ODI series. The first ODI will take place on Sept. 19 at Trent Bridge.

Atkinson played in England's third Test defeat to Sri Lanka, which concluded on Monday, but his speeds were down and he was reported to be bowling with a tight quad muscle.

Atkinson has had a hugely successful summer with England, playing all six Tests taking 34 wickets. Stone, 30, has been injury-troubled and made his return after three years away from the Test arena in the second Test at Lord's taking four wickets. He last played an ODI in January 2023.
