It could pay to follow jockey Jamie Mott at Traralgon following his win aboard Sound in yesterday’s Zipping Classic as he pilots my two best bets on the card.

BEST BET

HUNTLY CASTLE

Race 8 No. 3

Went well last time out behind Djukon on Oaks day, making good ground late to finish two lengths from the winner. Should be at peak fitness here fourth-up and gets Jamie Mott on board fresh off a Group 2 victory at Caulfield on Saturday.

NEXT BEST

BOBSLED

Race 5 No. 1

This Snitzel colt is a 12 start maiden but looks well placed to tick that off on Sunday. Thought he went well first-up at The Valley, hitting the line after a tough run in transit but he’s drawn to get a much more economical run from barrier one.

THE POODLE

Race 2 No. 6

Tasmanian galloper that went well on debut and should improve sharply into Sunday’s test. That run was back in early October, but Scott Brunton has given him a trial in between where he looked good holding off The Beekeeper to score. Drawn wide here but has early speed to overcome it.

VALUE BET

LA VITA

Race 9 No. 9

Former South Australian galloper having her first start for trainer Jackson Pallot. While not winning in 62 weeks over there, her form is more than good enough with close finishes behind the handy Huffington along with Little Rich Boy. With just 56kg on her back and Craig Newitt in the saddle, La Vita looks good value at the double figures.

JOCKEY – Jamie Mott

Fresh off a Group 2 Zipping Classic win aboard Sound, Jamie Mott has a stack of momentum on his side and is booked to ride numerous good chances at Traralgon.

TERNION (R1 No. 3 – $19), DENIRRA (R2 No. 8 – $4.60), BOBSLED (Race 5 No. 1 – $2.40), SPANISH TIDES (R6 No. 3 – $4.80), SO HE RULES (R7 No. 4 – $5.50), HUNTLY CASTLE (R8 No. 3 – $2.80), RAYSIM (R9 No. 2 – $5)
