Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal have escaped defeat at the death and then beat Wydad Casablanca 5-3 on penalties in Morocco to set up a Club World Cup semi-final with South American champions Flamengo.

Al Hilal's Mohamed Kanno converted a stoppage time penalty to cancel out Wydad's lead from Ayoub Amloud's 52nd-minute header in a game both sides ended with 10 men in Rabat.

Musab Aljuwayr clinched victory for Al Hilal in the shoot-out to send them into Tuesday's semi-final against Brazil's Flamengo.

In the other semi on Wednesday, record 14-time European Champions League winners Real Madrid will face Egypt's Al Ahli who beat Seattle Sounders 1-0 from Mohamed Afsha's 88th-minute winner.

Flamengo and Real had byes into the final four of the tournament bringing together the champions from FIFA's six confederations and a team from the host nation.

In this case Al Ahli were given the host slot because Wydad are the African Champions League winners, and Al Hilal the Asian slot as 2021 Champions League winners because the 2022 final has not been played yet.
