Struggling Holstein Kiel have battled to a 2-2 draw at European hopefuls Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga.

Steven Skrzybski forced the ball home at the near post after a good move on 80 minutes, with masked keeper Kamil Grabara getting a hand to the effort but failing to keep it out.

Second-from-bottom Kiel had taken the lead on 13 minutes through David Zec's powerful header from a corner as the hosts wasted chances to level before the break.

But two quickfire goals early in the second period from half-time substitute Patrick Wimmer and Jonas Wind - also with a header from Wimmer's corner - put Wolfsburg in front.

Wimmer almost made it 3-1 on 56 minutes but his deflected effort hit the post, and the hosts were made to pay for other misses.

The sixth-placed Wolves are four points below the Champions League places.

Kiel have won only three times so far in their debut Bundesliga season but are now just two points adrift in the automatic relegation places, ahead of the rest of the weekend program on Saturday and Sunday.
