West Coast defender Tom Cole has undergone surgery for a broken finger.

The defensive veteran went under the knife on Wednesday after suffering a fractured finger at training.

The Eagles confirmed the 27-year-old was on track to resume ball-handling drills after Christmas.

“Tom’s surgery went well and he will be focusing on his cardio program before resuming contact training,” General Manager Football Gavin Bell said on Friday.

West Coast also revealed teen sensation Harley Reid and promising second-year player Harvey Johnston were working their way through modified training programs.

“Harley has disrupted some scar tissue from an old lower-leg injury, so he will be in an off-legs program for the next few sessions,” Bell added.

“Harvey injured his elbow recently and is being managed from contact training, but he is completing his aerobic program with typical enthusiasm.”

Reid suffered a concussion after a head knock at training earlier this month and spent a few sessions on light duties to ensure the 19-year-old didn’t have any adverse effects.

Fellow Eagles youngster Reuben Ginbey also gave the club a scare on the training track on Friday.

The half-back bull went down clutching his ankle and looked in some pain as he was attended by a member of West Coast’s medical team.

However, he returned to the track and looked strong.
