Click to bid for reef rescue

The West Australian

The Sea of Change Foundation — an organisation that funds conservation programs and scientific research — is running a virtual fundraiser to support those efforts.

Most Sea of Change virtual auction items start at 20 per cent of their retail value, with items including a trip for two on the Galapagos Aggressor III — seven nights aboard the small ship for two people on a Galapagos Islands live-aboard scuba diving trip to some of the most amazing wilderness in the world — valued at more than $13,000. At time of publication the bid was at $6700. There’s also diving gear, gift packs and more to bid on.

The virtual auction is now open for bidding through until November 14. The foundation says all funds raised go directly to support “conservation initiatives around the world to ensure future generations of divers can also experience the sea and its wonders.”

Wayne Brown, CEO of Aggressor Adventures and chairman of the board of the Sea of Change Foundation, says: “Aggressor Adventures fully supports the Sea of Change Foundation’s operations so that 100 per cent of funds raised are always donated directly to conservation that makes a difference.”

The foundation’s current initiatives, among others, include the Reef Rescue and Rapid Response Fund which provides grants to divers and their communities to respond quickly to coral reef damaging incidents such as oil spills, vessel groundings and anchor drops.
