Cape Mentelle hosts International Women’s Day celebration in high style

International Women’s Day was celebrated at Cape Mentelle on Friday, coinciding with the Margaret River Business Network’s 10th year of running the event.
The sold-out gathering on March 7 brought together business leaders, councillors, entrepreneurs and residents to celebrate women’s achievements while acknowledging the ongoing journey towards equality.
MRBN chief executive Annie McFie opened the event which featured speakers including Leah Clearwater from the Margaret River Wine Academy, and social entrepreneur Amy Carter-James.
Shire of Augusta Margaret River deputy president Tracey Muir saluted the efforts to celebrate women at the special event.
“The Margaret River Business Network’s International Women’s Day celebration was a fantastic opportunity to gather and honour the achievements that have been made and those that need to be continued to be progressed in our community and across the world,” she said.
“The speakers were authentic, inspiring and engaging, encouraging us all to think about taking risks and giving back where we can.”
Ms McFie said the day had special significance in paying tribute to the region’s Wadandi people and “highlighting the wisdom and leadership of Indigenous women”.
