Cranbrook crash: 80-year-old woman critical, 54-year-old stable following head-on collision on Albany Highway

An elderly woman remains in a critical condition in hospital following a head-on collision in Cranbrook over the long weekend. The 80-year-old was a passenger in a Holden Commodore station wagon which collided with an orange Isuzu DMAX utility along Albany Highway around 12pm on March 1. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services attended the scene and had to extricate the occupants of both vehicles. Two people — an 80-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man — from the Holden Commodore had to be airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital with serious injuries. The 80-year-old male driver of the Commodore was taken to Albany Hospital for treatment via ambulance, while a 17-year-old male in the same car was uninjured. The 26-year-old female driver of the Isuzu DMAX and a 55-year-old male passenger were also uninjured. An RPH spokeswoman told The West Australian the 80-year-old woman remains in a critical condition in ICU. The 54-year-old male is currently stable.
