Gnowangerup will be out to win a fourth straight league premiership when the new Ongerup Football Association season starts on Saturday.

The Bulldogs have been a dominant force in recent years in the OFA competition and beat Lake Grace-Pingrup by 20 points in last year’s grand final.

The same five clubs will be in action in 2023, with the competition part of Ongerup Association Sport which also includes local netball and hockey.

Teams will play a 15-round home-and-away season before a three-week finals series to determine the premiers in all three grades.

This year’s grand final will be held at Newdegate on Saturday, September 2.

The Bulldogs are again expected to be strong contenders for the 2023 title as they look to become the first team since Jerramungup (2008-2011) to win four consecutive flags.

They will start their premiership defence against Newdegate in round one on Saturday, while grand finalists Lake Grace-Pingrup will be on the road to play Jerramungup.

Boxwood Hill have the bye in the first week before they face a big task at home against the Bulldogs in round two.

John O’Neill is the president of the OFA for the 2023 season.
